Abstract text: Antioxidants were and are considered to be very important elements. They protect our organism from the harmful effects of the free radicals, compounds produced by the toxins from the environment and the normal mechanisms of the organism. Antioxidants are obtained in different ways, that’s why their identification is different; we talk about antioxidants of plants like Ginko biloba, Schisandra chinensis, Cardus marianus, Vitis vinifera. The identification of these antioxidants is made through reactions like: with reactive Carr-Price, with HCl 0.5 N, reactive Arnow and NaOH 1N, the reaction of the oxalo-boric complex followed by the quantitative reactions as well modern determinations through TLC and high performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography. The results show the existence in the plants of a large number of antioxidants compounds like: carotenoids, poliphenols, antocians, etc. Antioxidants are directly involved in the inhibition of the oxidative stress reducing the process of the cellular aging, they protect against some cerebral and vascular diseases, against different types of cancer and they are also adaptogens and hepatoprotectors. Thus, the chances of having these kinds of diseases are much reduces after having these antioxidants.
