Abstract text: | Gastric ulcers are gastric mucosal lesions. These injuries occur when gastric secretions – hydrochloric acid containing pepsin – irritates and damages the stomach lining. Two cases of the most common causes of peptic ulcers are infection with bacteria called Helicobacter pylori and abuse of anti-inflammatory drugs (AINS) such as Aspirin. Although most people are infected with H. pylori, only a few will make peptic ulcer disease. Some risk factors of H. pylori in a person giving an increased susceptibility for developing ulcers. These factors, some of them little known, include: – smoking – alcohol – prior history of ulcer – physical stress. Most ulcers are not caused by H. pylori are caused by AINS. AINS are prescribed to reduce pain and inflammation in chronic diseases like arthritis or migraines. Used for weeks or months,AINS may affect the gastric tract mucosa, resulting in an ulcer or ulcer activating an already formed. A rare cause of peptic ulcers is Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. In this disorder in excess stomach secretes hydrochloric acid, which affects the gastric mucosa. Psychological stress, added to other risk factors can increase chances of developing a peptic ulcer. Specific Symptoms of ulcers is: – pain in the form of Burns or erosions, and bone xiphoid between umbilical region, the Pain Comes and goes, Comes and goes pain, weight loss, vomiting after meals. Complication of gastric ulcer can be: digestive hemorrhage, perforation or stenosis. It is very important that patients with ulcers to receive treatment as fair and correct defects eating! |
