Abstract text: Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the concentration of Th1 types cytokines (IL -1, IL-6, and TNF-alpha) in the peripheral blood of patients with psoriatic arthritis versus rheumatoid arthritis and healthy individuals. Method: In this study we enrolled twenty-six patients diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis, twenty patients diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and twenty-seven controls were included. The pro-inflammatory cytokines levels blood and fluid were quantified by using ELISA method (Endogen, Woburg, MA, USA). Results: In this study we observed that peripheral blood concentrations were higher in patients with psoriatic arthritis than controls, and lower than patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Conclusion: This study has detected higher levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in both arthritis, psoriatic and rheumatoid, so reflecting the proinflammatory status in these diseases, and the increase in pro-inflammatory cytokines serum level is strongly positive related to the activity of diseases in patients with psoriatic arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
