Abstract text: Not all root canal treatments are successful. This is obvious. Recognition, acceptance and management of failure are difficult and involve a complex set of factors. Generally, it’s known the concept that root canal treatment is 90-95% successful. This percentage is not completely right, leading to confusion among dentists and patients. These overall percentages should not be taken into account, but rather each case must be evaluated individually in order to determine the percentage likelihood of success. Prognosis is the keyword. This refers to predict success or failure data situations. How to define success and failure? Interpretation success depends on each practitioner. Success criterion of a dentist may be that resist treatment until the patient pays the fee, and failure criterion can be contacted by the patient dentist citing severe symptoms. At the other extreme is the strict requirement of complete absence of inflammatory cells. Realistic criteria between these two extremes are close to the last.
