Abstract text: Today’s dentistry, due to the advancement in the technical field, and subsequently in the medical field has to approach treatment planning in a different way than 50 years ago when the clinical solutions for large coronary destructions were very limited. Nowadays in order to restore the teeth affected by caries, which have been treated endodonticaly, the vast majority of practitioners use prefabricated post and core systems. The restoration using the post and core system is done using composite plastic materials that are built up to the necessary size and shape. The subject of post and core restoration systems, has been debated and studied, and the literature is abundant in information about the materials and techniques used. The present study’s objective was to observes the in vitro mechanical stress behavior (axial and oblique pressure, and traction resistance) of a number of endodontically treated and restored teeth, using the post and core system. The coronary post was restored using prefabricated DENTATUS devices, Silver Amalgam, Miracle-Mix, Culmat, Dyract, 3M VITREMER and a compomer. A parallel direction that the study took was the observation of the strength and behavior of these materials in wet conditions as opposed to their resistance in a dry environment. This stage of the study took 8 days.
