Abstract text: Alzheimer malady is characterized by progressive deterioration of cognitive and noncognitive functions, is the most specific form of degenerative dementia specific to old age.(Dementia comes from the Latin word demens).Organic brain disease and the changes accompanying the first time were described by German psychiatrist and neuropathology Alois Alzheimer. The name of ”Alzheimer disease” was first used by German psychiatrist Emil Kraeplin in his textbook of psychiatry under the quote “Lehrbuch der Psychiatrie, 1911”. If in the case of an early debut before age 65 where the princeps as Alzheimer is used the term preselin dementia cases occurring in the late elderly and at persons over 70 years is used the term senilin dementia. Most characteristic manifestation of the disease is progressive dementia. Depression is very common character among people who have Alzheimer. In many cases, they become depressed when they realize that their memory and functioning deteriorates. Antidepressants can be very helpful for those who have Alzheimer disease and depression. These drugs can improve symptoms of sadness and apathy, and can also improve appetite and sleep problems. Prevention and treatment: The main goal of treatment is to alleviate the strategies progression and improve clinic symptoms. The efficiency of these strategies are correlated with early diagnosis, early disease. The cholinergic treatment was the first strategy considered to be one specific in this malady. But we have the opportunity to incorporate natural products into drugs for patients and their neurons should function normally and also having fewer side effects. Due to the nature of our surrounding there are many herbal remedies. For example, a recent study says that a polyphenol resveratrol produced by various plants such as Polygonum cuspidatum shows significant antioxidant effects, and protective properties on the nervous system.
