Abstract text: The finality of any scientific effort that is focused on the notion of delinquency and crime should be predicting, finding some instruments with which we can quantify the risk of antisocial, violent or illegal behavior. Understanding the penitentiary system as a whole implies approaches from psychiatry, law, sociology, criminology and, least but not last, ethics. The comfortable trend is to label people as good and bad, normal and abnormal, and the ways of punishing those who have broken the law have in time suffered modifications, the “elimination”-prison becomes “protection”-prison, and currently a prison with the role of re-educating and re-socializing is preferable to be created. Prison is not and will not be an adequate framework to develop personality, but it can help us to understand the human personality even as an inmate. The goal of the present research is to identify the particularities and special needs of the inmates with problems of mental health, as well as finding some explications/ practical solutions to recover and repair some problems that arise in this area. Crime constitutes without doubt that which is least evolved about man, least flattering for the human species, and knowing the psychic characteristics of criminals, of their deviant personality and the involved psycho-social factors, contributing to a better understanding of the crime phenomenon and finding ways of bettering their social recovery.
