Abstract: The aim of the study is to identify statistical differences on the dimensions of stress and anxiety of mothers with one child, depending on belonging to one of the age groups: 18-25 years, 26-30 years, 31-38 years old. Participants and design . 50 mothers aged between 18 and 38 were surveyed in the city of Arad at the first birth, with the age of the children being between 3 months and 2 years. I applied the Stress Perception Scale (Levenstein), the S.T.A.I.-X1 Anxiety Assessment Questionnaire, which measures anxiety as a condition. Subjects in the younger age group, mothers aged 18-25 years, showed a much higher stress and anxiety than the two age groups, which validates the overall hypothesis, demonstrating that there are statistical differences between the (18-25, 26-30, 31-38 years) mothers with a single child, the older age category having lower levels of stress and anxiety. The younger mothers, at the first birth, have a higher degree of stress and anxiety, while in the 31-38 year olds the stress and anxiety decrease significantly.
Keywords: anxiety, stress, parental role, family.
