In the ambulatory of the surgical department in the last year we had about 2000 patients. A lot of them had an abdominal symptomatology. Abdominal pain is the most common symptom that is claimed by the patients in the surgery ambulatory. The clinical examination can be subjective and put in question a lot of differential diagnosis. Therefore an objective investigation is needed. So we examined the role of ultrasound as the main para-clinical investigation to suggest the diagnosis. We studied the ultrasound investigation in abdominal pain in 850 cases from 1.01.2009 to 31.12.2009. The role of ultrasound has no significance related by age, sex or associated diagnosis. The results relieved that in over 75% of cases the main diagnosis was suggested by the ultrasound investigation. The ultrasound and a minimum set of blood tests as para-clinical rise the suggested diagnosis in over 90% of cases with abdominal pain. The conclusion of our study shows the significant role of ultrasound in the abdominal pain investigation. |
