Abstract text: | In removable prostheses technology, “composite” materials form a mixture of different fibers and polymers. These materials are widely used in automotive industry, aeronautics and space. Physical properties of fibers used, their concentration, their ability to leave the resin embedded and how the relationship between them will influence the behavior of fiber composite. Surface treatment proposed to improve the link between fiber and polymer is treatment with plasma. Among the non-metallic fittings used are glass fibers. Since 1957 Smith (12) reported reinforcing PMMA with glass fibers by simply mixing the dough discrete fibers or laminating with woven glass fiber. Nonmetallic fittings used to date are: glass fibers, carbon fibers, aramid fibers and ultrahigh elastic modulus polyethylene. |
