Abstract text: | Abdomino-perineal resection of the rectum is a fundamental solution in the radical surgical cure of rectum cancer. The decision to perform abdomino-perineal resection of the rectum versus anterior resection – Dixon procedure- is the most important tactical issue regarding the surgical cure of rectal cancer. This decision can be definitively made usually only during the surgical intervention. The main technical problems in the abdomino-perineal resection of the rectum are damaging the ureters during dissection, bleeding because of the possibility of infringement of middle sacral artery, difficult dissection from the nearby viscera and injury of the urethra or vagina. These incidents must be prevented by tended dissection to view cleavage plans, and accurately identifying anatomical elements to be cut or ligatured. Also manufacturing an end colostomy can drive to further complications if there are local tissue tensions. The colon exteriorization must be made respecting its vascular structure to prevent its necrosis. We studied a total of 18 cases of abdomino-perineal resection of the rectum performed in General Surgery Clinic of the Arad County Hospital between 2004-2009. This surgical procedure still remains a basic option in the cure of rectum cancer, especially regarding the achievement of radically oncologic desideratum. |
