Abstract text: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignancy of the world and in the same time a usually cause of death worldwide, so this diseases become a very important health problem. HCC has a very different distribution in different regions of the globe. HCC developed especially associated with the presence of risk factors such as: chronic hepatitis B (VHB) and C (VHC) virus infection, mainly in cirrhotic stage, high viral load, male gender, older age and association with other risk factors. The augmented incidence of HCC is correlated with the great amplitude of chronic viral hepatitis B and C infection burden in various parts of world. Many studies show a direct relationship between chronic viral hepatitis B and C infection and hepatocellular carcinoma. The mechanism of malignant transformation is still not completely clear and understood, the data published in specialty literature shown that it’s proved the implication of liver fibrosis which results from a long time chronic inflammation, liver regeneration or creation of mutations by integration into the genome of the hepatocyte, such in case of VHB. In this moment both specific antiviral treatment and primary prevention of hepatitis B by newborn vaccination seems to be the only way of reducing significantly the risk of carcinogenic transformation at these patients.
